Parament Sets

Murphy three-piece parament sets provide coordinated linens for decorating the altar or chancel area of your church. Depending on the set selected, an altar frontal or table runner, together with a matching pulpit scarf and Bible bookmark will be included in the set. Coordinating the linens in a parament set adds reverence and liturgical significane to your worship celebrations.

Murphy parament sets are offered in green, white, purple and red, the colors used during the major liturgical seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Pentecost and Ordinary Time. Blue is also an important liturgical color for some denominations and congregations, particularly during Advent. Specific parament colors are also used to celebrate patron saints, Feast days, nationalities and established traditions of a church’s denomination.

Reversible paraments provide two liturgical colors in a single parament, making it easy and economical to change the appearance of your altar or chancel area as the liturgical calendar changes. Popular combinations such as purple/green and white/red provide coverage for the major liturgical seasons, while reducing the number of individual paraments your church needs to purchase and store.

Church parament are usually tailored with finely-embroidered liturgical symbols and designs, accented with gold fringe. Accordingly, dry cleaning is strongly recommended to preserve the fabric’s integrity and appearance. When storing your paraments, clean them first to remove dirt and oils, then store in breathable cotton or muslin garment bags (not plastic) in a cool, dry space with stable humidity. Large frontals and table runners should be stored flat or carefully-rolled around cardboard tubes to prevent permanent creasing.
