Front-wrap styles are self-securing, though a cincture is often added for liturgical color. Traditional pull-over styles and altar server albs with a hood are typically worn with a cincture (rope or band) to adjust the waist and maintain a neat appearance. Alb Cinctures are available separately.

Yes. While we maintain a separate youth server albs collection, these altar server albs are specifically sized for adults and older teens. Many parishes use our Toomey and Abbey altar server albs to ensure a uniform appearance for their adult acolytes and lay leaders.

Our fabrics are crafted from wrinkle-resistant polyester and breathable poly-cotton blends; these garments range from plain utility designs to premium options with lace and embroidery.

For weekly use, we recommend 100% polyester or Abbey Brand’s "Augustine" fabric. These are highly wrinkle-resistant and generally machine-washable. For clergy who prefer a more natural feel, our poly-cotton blends offer a traditional drape while remaining more breathable during longer services.

Adult altar server albs are sized by back length (measured from the base of the neck to the top of the shoes) and chest size. Because sizing scales differ between Abbey Brand and R.J. Toomey, we recommend reviewing the specific height and width charts on each product page. Ensuring the hem sits just above the shoe line is essential for both safety and aesthetics.

Care depends on the decorative details. Plain polyester and poly-cotton albs are typically machine-washable on a gentle cycle. However, albs with lace inserts, embroidery, or box pleats should be dry cleaned to preserve the fabric’s shape and prevent the details from fraying.
